Project Description
South Park Drive is a multi-use pathway that currently serves pedestrians, cyclists, and motor vehicles through Lower Bidwell Park. This project is the second and final phase of the Lower Bidwell Park Road Rehabilitation Project, which aims to improve the roadway surfaces of the two shared roadways within Lower Bidwell Park – South Park Drive and Petersen Memorial Drive. The roadway is primarily used as a pedestrian and bicycling path that connects downtown Chico to Manzanita Ave, with many access points along the way. South Park Drive also provides main access to the One-Mile Recreation Area and amenities including Sycamore Pool, Sycamore Senior Softball Field, group picnic sites, and the Caper Acres playground. The scope of work includes Full Depth Reclamation (FDR) of the existing pavement section, followed by new asphalt paving, thermoplastic striping, and wayfinding signage.
