- Zone numbers are posted on signs near meters or kiosks. Enter this number into the Passport App to start your session.
- When is parking enforced?
- Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, excluding federal holidays.
- How can I pay for parking?
- Use the Passport Parking App or the kiosk
- Where can I park for free?
- Parking is free on weekends, federal holidays, and weekdays before 9:00 AM and after 6:00 PM.
- Do I need to display a receipt or ticket on my dashboard?
- The City of Chico uses a License Plate Reader (LPR) system. Just remember to enter your plate number correctly when paying at a kiosk or on the app.
- What if I forget to pay or run out of time?
- A parking citation may be issued. Be sure to check your time limits and renew in advance using the app if needed.
- Can I extend my parking time remotely?
- Yes, through the Passport Parking App, provided you haven't exceeded the maximum time limit for that zone.
- Can I park in front of a business for a few minutes without paying?
- Some 15-minute free parking spaces are available, but in most areas, payment is required during enforcement hours—even for short visits.
- Where can I find accessible parking?
- Accessible parking spaces are located throughout downtown. Vehicles displaying valid disability placards or plates may also park at meters without paying
- How do I contest a parking citation?
- You have 21 calendar days from the citation date to contest. Visit PTicket.com for more information.
- Do I need a permit to park in residential areas?
- Yes, in designated preferential parking zones.
- Do I have to pay at the closest kiosk?
- You can pay for parking at any kiosk within the same zone. For example, if you park and forget to pay, you do not have to go back to the kiosk closest to your vehicle. You can pay at any kiosk with the same zone number where you parked.
