City of Chico

City of Chico

The City of Chico is committed to keeping the Chico Municipal Code clear, consistent, and up to date.

This form allows City staff, design professionals, and community members to request minor clean-up edits to correct errors or improve clarity when they identify outdated language or conflicts with other City or State regulations. The purpose of this tool is to support code maintenance and clarity—not to modify, reduce, or change established City requirements. All recommended changes will be considered, but no revisions will be made unless formally approved by the Public Works Director - Engineering.

All submissions will be reviewed by City staff to determine whether a formal code amendment is warranted. Requests involving substantive policy changes will be carefully evaluated and, if appropriate, routed through the City’s standard policy review process. Submitting a recommendation does not guarantee that a change will be adopted.

Code clean-up items are collected on an ongoing basis. Because comments may conflict or require further coordination across departments, formal individual responses will not be provided at the time of submittal. Instead, staff will review all collected requests together during a future code amendment cycle. The next cycle of updates is anticipated to begin in January 2027, with ordinance preparation occurring in early 2027 and City Council consideration and adoption in the spring. All requests for changes to be considered in this cycle must be received by December 31, 2026. Any submittals received after that date will be held for a future update cycle.

To ensure staff can manage this process efficiently, please refrain from contacting staff for status updates. When a formal amendment cycle begins, requestors will be notified only if additional information is needed regarding their submittal.
