Fair Street Multimodal Improvement Project

The City of Chico proposes to reconstruct approximately 0.7 miles of Fair Street, repairing roadway damages that resulted from increased/heavy usage after the 2018 Camp Fire. The existing pavement will be rehabilitated using full depth reclamation with concrete (FDR-C). Excavation depths are expected to reach approximately 12 inches for the construction of sidewalk and driveways and up to 24 inches for FDR-C. Reconstruction work includes a “road diet” that would reduce the existing four lanes to two lanes with a center turning lane and associated striping, Class II bike lanes, sidewalks, curb and gutter, ADA improvements. and landscape zones. Typical underground and overhead utility improvements include storm drain inlet and water valve component relocations, replacement of existing sanitary sewer infrastructure, utility pole relocation, and street lighting, where feasible.  Multiple temporary construction easements are anticipated.
