Sewer/Storm Drain Engineering

ENGINEERING THE SEWER AND STORM WATER COLLECTION SYSTEM

The Sewer/Storm Water Engineering Division is responsible for coordinating and implementing the City’s Storm Water Management Program, a comprehensive program required under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES); Storm Water Regulations (Phase II MS4 permit) regulated by the State Water Resources Quality Control Board (SWRQCB).  In addition, the Sewer/Storm Water Engineering Division is responsible for sanitary sewer master planning, the City’s Sewer Main Replacement Program, collaborating on Water Pollution Control Plant projects, and providing support to the Public Works Operations and Maintenance Department.

The City of Chico is evaluating sewer rates to ensure the long-term reliability and financial sustainability of the sewer system, addressing the costs of operating and maintaining critical infrastructure, meeting regulatory requirements, and planning for future system needs.
Please visit the Sewer Enterprise Study page to learn more about the evaluation and submit comments.
